As the newest resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, you're probably feeling a little bit lost and lonely. Maybe you're wishing you'd bought a new home in Ontario instead so that you wouldn't have had to give up all your old friends. But it's too late for that now. You're here, so get out there and meet some new people so you can start forming new friendships. Here are some tips on how to meet people, just in case it's been a while for you or you're a naturally shy person.
Get a Job
Most people meet their friends through work, because the people you work with already have at least that one thing in common with you. If you've got a career, it's easy enough to switch from selling Mississauga, Ontario homes to Corpus Christi ones. When you get your job, make sure to say hi to everyone, strike up conversations, accept any invitations to events, and invite your co-workers out for drinks.
Join a Group
Volunteer groups and clubs are an excellent way to meet like minded people. If you used to teach an English course in Canada, you might join the book club at the local library or volunteer at school to read to kids. If you're religious, you could also join a church so that you'll have a ready stock of events to attend and lots of people to meet. People who volunteer tend to be very community minded and friendly, so it should be easy to make their acquaintance.
Have a Party
Nobody can resist a party. In order to get to know your new neighbors, get out all that fancy stuff you bought while you were on that Philadelphia spa package and use it to decorate the house for a party. Get lots of food and drinks and send out invitations to all of your neighbors. If you include kids, there will be no excuse for people not to come, and you can play music as loud as you want, because all your neighbors are here!
Take a Class
If you always wanted to learn equestrian in London, Ontario but never quite got around to it, now's your chance. By signing up for a class or lessons in something you're interested in, you'll meet like minded people in a neutral setting. Conversations will be easy to start because you can talk about beading or salsa dancing or soccer or whatever the course is about.
